Year 6 Camp Out – Friday 11th July

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Year 6 Camp Out is fast approaching, and Mrs Beddow, Miss Dyer, Miss Jones and I are all really looking forward to a fun and memorable evening with the children!

Plan for the Day:

Tent Drop-Off and Set-Up – From 2:00pm

  • Please bring tents to school from 2:00pm on Friday 11th July.
  • Meet Mrs Howell-James and Mrs Beddow at the school gate, and we’ll escort you to the school field for you to help your child set up their tent.
  • If you are unavailable at 2:00pm, you are welcome to set the tent up after school instead.

After Tent Set-Up

  • Once tents are up, children will go home for their evening meal and return to school at 6:00pm.
  • This gives the staff who are staying overnight a short break to rest, see their families, and eat before the evening begins.

What to Bring for the Camp Out (6:00pm Return):

  • Duvet, pillow, pyjamas, toothbrush, and a change of clothes for the next day
  • Torch, fairy lights, glitter stations, small teddies – all welcome!
  • Snacks – sweets, crisps, and drinks are allowed (within reason)
    • ❌ No energy drinks, please – we want the evening to be enjoyable, not eventful!
  • Games – board or card games only (no electronics)
  • Sports equipment – feel free to bring something, but please check with school first to ensure it’s suitable.

Additional Information:

  • Toilets: We will be using the EYFS building toilets overnight for easy and safe access.
  • Mobile phones: These must be handed to Mrs Howell-James on arrival. Children can phone home if needed, but phones will not be kept with them overnight.
  • No cameras – we will take photos and share them with families.
  • Breakfast: We will provide breakfast for all children on Saturday morning.
  • Pick-Up: Please return to school at 8:00am on Saturday 12th July to collect your child.
    • The school grounds must be fully vacated by 9:00am at the latest so staff can return to their families and commitments.
    • Please help your child take down their tent and pack up.

We’re aiming for a relaxed, fun evening to celebrate their final weeks at primary school. If you have any further ideas or would like to contribute in any way, please do let us know – we’d love to hear from you!

Warm regards,

Rachel Howell-James
