At Much Wenlock Primary School, we are proud of the high-quality PE and sport that we provide for all of our pupils. We recognise the positive outcomes that a rich PE curriculum can achieve in supporting children’s personal, social, cognitive, and physical development, and we strive to ensure that our teaching promotes confidence, fitness, and competitiveness in a safe and inclusive environment.
In 2024/25, Sports Premium funding is enabling us to deliver a broad and inclusive programme of sport and physical activity. This includes active after-school clubs running every evening, increased participation in inter-school competitions through the William Brookes partnership, and dedicated swimming lessons for Years 5 and 6 taught by qualified coaches. Staff are working alongside these coaches and our specialist PE teacher to strengthen their own skills and confidence, ensuring sustainable, long-term improvements to PE teaching across the school. We are also continuing to expand SEND sporting opportunities, train and support Sports Leaders to run lunchtime activities, and celebrate sporting success through assemblies, social media, and community events.
We are delighted that Much Wenlock Primary School has achieved the Platinum School Games Award for 2024/25, following on from holding the Gold Award for four consecutive years. This reflects our commitment to high-quality PE provision, inclusivity, and wide participation in sport
For the academic year 2024-2025, we received £17,540 in sports funding. A full breakdown of our 2024/25 funding, spending, and intended impact can be found in our attached Sports Premium report:
