At Much Wenlock Primary School and Nursery, we believe that wellbeing is the foundation for every child’s success—academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to creating a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.
Our Whole-School Approach
Wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Through a carefully considered approach that includes our curriculum, values, and daily interactions, we:
- Foster strong, trusting relationships with children and families
- Embed emotional literacy and resilience across the curriculum
- Encourage positive behaviour through consistency, nurture, and high expectations
- Create a culture where all children feel that they belong
Our Team
We have a dedicated Wellbeing Lead, a skilled Pastoral Team, and a committed Nurture Team, including Nurture UK trained practitioners. Together, they provide proactive and responsive support for children across the school.
We are proud to offer:
- A bespoke nurture provision for children who need additional emotional support
- Safe, welcoming spaces for children to talk and self-regulate
- 1:1 and small group support to build confidence, resilience, and emotional awareness
- A graduated response to need, including close work with families and external services where necessary
Building a Culture of Belonging
Our wellbeing work is rooted in our WRENS values: Wonder, Resilience, Equity, Nurture, and Sustainability. We teach children to:
- Recognise and talk about their emotions
- Support each other with kindness and respect
- Develop healthy coping strategies
- Know that it’s okay to ask for help
We celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week, run wellbeing initiatives throughout the year, and ensure pupil voice plays a central role in shaping our provision.
Working in Partnership
We know that supporting wellbeing is most effective when school and home work together. If you have any concerns about your child’s emotional wellbeing or would like support, please contact our Wellbeing Lead, Lucy Steventon or speak to a member of our Pastoral Team via info@wps.318education.co.uk. We’re here to listen and help.
