Last Friday, Reception celebrated Earth Day by exploring why it is important to care for our planet and how even the youngest children can help make a difference.
Inspired by Sir David Attenborough’s hot air balloon journey and Mrs Ball’s photographs from New Mexico, the children looked at our world from above and learned about the plants and animals that share it. They then painted Earth‑themed hot air balloons and discussed how pollution can affect wildlife.
Working together, the children created a large world using classroom materials in a sustainable way, before placing their hands around the Earth and making a promise to protect it. The day ended with a playground litter pick, helping the children put their learning into action.
A wonderful day of hands‑on learning, creativity, and care for our world 🌍✨
