What a week of celebration it has been at Much Wenlock!
Last weekend our children shone at Live Arts, with an array of winners across all categories. Mrs Ball, Mrs Beddow and Mrs Nicholas said the children were phenomenal – creative, confident and absolutely captivating from start to finish. They have made us incredibly proud.
We are also celebrating our Year 5 writers. Nine of our pupils were competition winners in a recent writing challenge. What makes this even more special is that many of those children told us at the start of the year that writing was their least favourite subject. Their success is a testament to our commitment to awe, wonder and high‑quality literacy teaching through our beautiful writing process, as well as the power of reading and the resilience they have built this year.
Sport has been just as exciting. Our Cressage Cup netball team secured a brilliant 3rd place, and our footballers brought the cup home once again this year. Whether they won, lost or drew, every child represented our school with pride. They showed what it means to “feel the fear and do it anyway” – living our value of resilience in action.
Today rounded off the week perfectly. The atmosphere in school has been wonderful as children explored cultures from around the world through sport, dance, food and art. They have absolutely loved it, and staff have been blown away by their curiosity, kindness and enthusiasm.
A quick personal update from me: I am in school, and I’ll be back on the gate as soon as I’m off crutches and able to stand unaided!
Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
Mrs H‑J
